Emmanuel Beach Mission is an inter-denominational group of Christians from all over the UK (and the world!) who want to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and the difference He has made in our lives.
We bring together three teams of about twelve people aged 16+ to serve together in Saundersfoot, South Wales, for a week in the summer holidays.
As a team we go down to the beach twice a day, encouraging kids, teenagers and their families to make sandcastles, play games, fight the tide and generally have lots of fun building relationships together. This leads into a jam-packed programme of action songs, drama, quizzes, Bible stories, testimonies and sketch-board talks as the team work together to present the gospel in an exciting and accessible way.
Being on team is an amazing opportunity, not only to share the love of Jesus with everyone we meet, but also to grow in our own relationship with God through worship, prayer and spending time in God’s word. We receive evangelism training and constructive feedback throughout the week, enabling and equipping us to be more effective witnesses for Jesus when we go back to our home churches and everyday lives.
2020 is our 64th year and we are so excited about everything God has in store for us. Please explore the website by clicking ‘What’s involved’ to find out more.
PLEASE READ OUR STATEMENT BELOW ABOUT PLANS FOR SUMMER 2020 in the light of COVID19.
Dear Emmanuel Beach Mission family
As a result of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis we have taken the difficult decision to move all of our summer Beach Mission teams online for 2020.
After 63 years of sharing the love of Jesus on Saundersfoot Beach this is not a decision we take lightly. However, as Christians we believe we have a duty to adhere to the government advice (Rom. 13:1-7) and are called to “love our neighbour as we love ourselves” (Mark 12:31).
Whilst we recognise that the current restrictions may change or be lifted before summer, it is clear that we will still be in a period of significant upheaval and uncertainty. Beach Mission primarily engages with holidaymakers whilst our teams come from all over the country and live and work together in close proximity. Any kind of travel restrictions and/or social distancing requirements make it impossible for us to continue to run our mission teams on the beach. We believe it is in the best interests of everyone concerned that we are open and upfront about our summer plans for 2020 to minimise the disruption involved in having to change things nearer to the mission.
We will continue to have contact with many of the families we have met over the last few years through our ‘Sunshine Centre Supporters Club’ magazine and our Facebook page, and we are already beginning to pray and think about how we might move Beach Mission online for 2020! Please pray with us as we seek the Lord as to how we can continue to share the love of Jesus even in these difficult and unusual circumstances. The world needs the hope that we have more than ever. We will keep you updated with our plan for moving BM summer 2020 online as soon as possible and if you do have any ideas please let us know.
Let’s continue to “Go, into all the world and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19) even from the confines of our living rooms, remembering that Jesus is with us, by His Spirit “always, to the very end of the age” (Matt. 28:20).
Every blessing in our Lord Jesus
Dan and the Emmanuel Beach Mission leaders.
